Planting plan - March 2025

Key Considerations

  • Full Sun: Beds A, B, C, D, F, G, H (except left 30cm of F-G-H, which get morning shade).
  • Partial Shade in Summer: Bed E (shaded by a maple tree but will receive more light in autumn).
  • Soil Depth:
    • A–E: Good soil (20-30cm deep) → Suitable for deep-rooted crops.
    • F–H: Shallow soil (8-12cm deep) → Best for shallow-rooted crops or raised bed additions.

- Plant now to harvest in late winter/spring.
- Thyme deters cabbage moths & improves soil health.
D (Full Sun, Deep Soil, Tomatoes Still Producing)Mature Tomatoes🍅 Let tomatoes finish producing → Then plant onions, leeks, and parsley + Basil & Nasturtiums- Tomatoes will last until early autumn.
- Replace with hardy winter crops once done.
- Basil improves tomato growth, nasturtiums deter pests.
E (Partial Shade in Summer, Full Sun in Winter, Deep Soil)Lettuce (L)🌱 More lettuce & coriander + Calendula- Shade helps prevent bolting.
- Coriander thrives in cooler weather.

- Dill attracts beneficial insects & improves flavor of onions.

- Phacelia attracts bees & improves soil structure.
